Narensomu,

Like you said, after the initial euphoria died down, when I saw all the cash awards conferred on our Indian heroes, I could not help but feel bad for the hockey team and the football team (who won the Asian cup after many years, this year). The winning football team got 1 lakh cash prize each, very miserly compared to what the Men in blue are bound to make. Agreed, Aussies gave their world cup winning team a ticker tape parade too, but i am sure their national rugby team would get the same respect, which is not the case here!

SRK or no SRK, no game would be as popular as cricket until things change.
Our sport heroes are being plied with gifts-a house worth 25 lakhs for each-wish heroes in other sports get honored as well...but cricket is about big money ...
Laughed out when Sun TV called powerful teams "Jambavaan " teams-why the Ramayan reference there-"mythology " is powerful indeed!

Cerabella,

Thanks for reading my take on yesterday's match and commenting! So you banned a few relatives due to the jinx factor? That's interesting!

Aditi,

Thanks for the compliment! You must be a true patriot, for sacrificing watching the match in case it brings jinx to the team! I am sure many people would have celebrated with wine, or champagne or just beer at least yesterday, it was one of those days when the whole nation feels happy about something!

hi animagi,

Both you and bella have done a great job of (TV) ringside commentary... I watched the match in bits and pieces, not being very sure of nature of jinx my presence in the TV room does to the boys in blue...hahah... past statistics was confusing and I did not want to take  a chance... but you know what!! We opened a bottle of white wine (sadly not champagne, it was an Italian wine which we were saving for the next social occassion) for dinner in celebration...

Haha. All's forgiven for we have won. The comments on "lucky positions" was so on. Forget seats, we have officially banned a few relations from ever watching a crucial India match as each time they miss a match, WE WON!!!

Wiskyd,

Thanks for reading and commenting. Will go through your previous blog on superstitions shortly.

I even had a superstition - my boss called me (rather disturbed me) while watching the game for the last three matches and I was half tempted to ask him to call me in the middle of the match yesterday!  He didn't, (I bet he was watching the match too!) but still our boys won, thankfully!

BTW Did your son get his share of thachi mum or due to superstition you stopped feeding him?

At 77/6, I thought we were through...but Misbah had other ideas. If you have read my 'Exams, cricket and superstitions' you'll see that i have a penchant for creating a superstition every time I watch an India match...throughout this series I've had different ones on different match days. yesterday nothing seemed to be working..I went to the pooja room and did namaskarams everytime a wicket fell. Just after those 3 sixes by misbah and 2 sixes by tanvir,I gave up and finally I started feeding my 2-yr old his thachi mum . Just when I was about to give him a morsel, a wicket fell. I was sitting in an awkward position and I stayed in that position till the match was over!!

It was thrilling indeed. You've captured the emotions that run through fanatic followers of this game well.

Narensomu,

Yes, that's what scares me - this young team won mainly because there were too little expectations, now the media and public alike will glorify them to no end and make them demi-Gods, and you know what'll happen next! Hope these people are sensible enough not to fall for this!

Well narrated.
There are few things that cheer us up nowadays-the tamasha the powers stage in the name of projects they have to implement, come what may-the media that is always slanted...
Once a while its good to feel happy about some nice event and guess its one of those.
Now Dhoni would become a demi God.
