Did I reallly mean that?

Ehsaas,

Lol! These life-is-like-that moments sure are funny. And as such as your cup was broken, it was as good as dead, so no harm!

Chak de India!!!

Narensomu,

Like you said, after the initial euphoria died down, when I saw all the cash awards conferred on our Indian heroes, I could not help but feel bad for the hockey team and the football team (who won the Asian cup after many years, this year). The winning football team got 1 lakh cash prize each, very miserly compared to what the Men in blue are bound to make. Agreed, Aussies gave their world cup winning team a ticker tape parade too, but i am sure their national rugby team would get the same respect, which is not the case here!

The Wait

What a beautiful, touching post! The end and the role reversal was so poignant and sad. This could be a true story in many cases, which makes it all the more sad.

Cerabella,

Thanks for reading my take on yesterday's match and commenting! So you banned a few relatives due to the jinx factor? That's interesting!

Aditi,

Thanks for the compliment! You must be a true patriot, for sacrificing watching the match in case it brings jinx to the team! I am sure many people would have celebrated with wine, or champagne or just beer at least yesterday, it was one of those days when the whole nation feels happy about something!

The Day India Almost Killed Me!

Cerabella,

A great narration on what would have happened in many households yesterday! Actually, as for this match viewing experience, I think the more the merrier! The women folk in my house actually forgot TV serials and started watching the match (and even the celebrations afterwards) with us! Just like you, though I was dead tired (from all the shouting, swearing and near-heart-attack experience) I had to blog about it before going to sleep. Things like these don't happen often!

Wiskyd,

Thanks for reading and commenting. Will go through your previous blog on superstitions shortly.

I even had a superstition - my boss called me (rather disturbed me) while watching the game for the last three matches and I was half tempted to ask him to call me in the middle of the match yesterday!  He didn't, (I bet he was watching the match too!) but still our boys won, thankfully!

BTW Did your son get his share of thachi mum or due to superstition you stopped feeding him?

Pattinathar

Raj Sir,

Not even the broken needle from home comes with one beyond the charnel ground  - what a profound statement! If only everyone remembers this what a wonderful place the world would have been! A very good translation of the verse that starts as 'kaadattra oosiyum". A very informative post, I didn't know these stories much, having watched the Pattinathaar movie only fleetingly on TV. Thanks for the post!

Narensomu,

Yes, that's what scares me - this young team won mainly because there were too little expectations, now the media and public alike will glorify them to no end and make them demi-Gods, and you know what'll happen next! Hope these people are sensible enough not to fall for this!

Geekunnel,

Yes, jai Hind indeed! After so many years India has finally won a world cup! At last we have something to cheer about instead of bashing the Indian Cricket team.

Of Grandmas, Crows and Foxed- out Vadas

Narensomu,

Just got around to checking your post. Hilarious! I don't know what is it with the animal kingdom and vadas! Crow flips for it, foxes use all their cunning for getting it, and rats are caught using masala vadas as traps - lesson here is all animals flip for vadas! Should try it on pets too!
